ABOUT PORTSMOUTH
PHOTOGRAPHY
GROUP
Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations around Portsmouth.

New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Portsmouth Photography Facebook Group here to share your photos after the session.

Our classes and photography sessions are limited to a max of 5 students - due to current COVID restrictions

We ask that everyone attending a meetup follows social distancing guidelines:

Stay home if you're sick.
Keep 2 metres away from others.
Don't make unnecessary physical contact with others. Avoid physical greetings, such as handshakes, hugs and kisses.
Wash your hands regularly with alcohol-based sanitiser.
Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. Use a flexed elbow or a tissue.

It is was very well organised. Carlos gave a brief idea of what to look at when doing photography and later got into the camera and lens detais. The group was quite heterogeneous and he took his time to do a 1:1 with each of us discussing our ideas, concerns. I really enjoyed the session.

INSTRUCTORS
Carlos Alexandre Pereira
Urban explorer, travel, and architectural photographer. Film and digital user, preferably B&W. Online/digital writer, and publisher. Authorial photography educator. After 20 years of professional experience as an Internationally Certified Project Manager, I acquired the confidence to be successful in any new and exciting challenge. That’s why in 2012 I became a full-time photographer, an activity that I have been experimenting with, since early in my life as an amateur. Soon I began to use my photography skills to develop a new professional career as an architectural photographer. During this time, I developed skills such as creativity, improvisation, and management of stakeholders with backgrounds and expectations vastly different from what I was used to. I was also able to use my well tested and reliable skills such as planning, attention to detail and my ability to learn new technics and technologies. Nowadays I have my photography work being sold at specialized photography and art galleries and through a network of professional contacts from the architecture and interior design areas. My commercial and authorial portfolios are available at: www.capfotografia.com and https://calexandrep.myportfolio.com. Since my first job as an Electronic Technician and throughout my whole career I have always engaged with training activities, developing, and teaching technical and non-technical courses. To start providing photographic education, technical and/or authorial, was a natural step and part of my routine since the beginning. Another additional activity that I have been engaged to as a photographer is to create photography and travel related content to my own blog and writing/collaborating to other blogs. In 2014 I launched my own digital/online magazines focused on photography and travel content. The magazines are available to read online at https://issuu.com/fotografiaetal
